0 Quick Apply Full-time 8 hours ago Full Job Description Job Description The engineer is responsible for understanding the current repair shop capabilities and determine feasibility for development of new repair projects.
This person will investigate existing hardware and alternate parts and assist in developing repair procedures and specifications that will be approved by FAA Designated Engineering Representatives.
The individual ensures design features are consistent with functional performance and safety requirements for the aircraft system installation.
The individual will be responsible for working with the engineering team to develop repairs, as well as writing the associated reports required to submit for customer and regulatory approval of Repair Specifications as well as shop work instructions.
As new repairs are developed, this person will help coordinate the acquisition of all hardware, fixtures, and equipment necessary for the proper training of repair personnel to perform ongoing work, as well as documentation of the equipment and processes.
Operational processes will be examined, created, and implemented for continued improvements and compliance to the Repair Station Manual.
Essential Responsibilities Provide technical support for procurement, manufacturing, receiving, repair, and certification of repairs Evaluate parts and assemblies using failed in-service equipment to determine repair feasibility Conduct and prepare detailed dimensional and electrical analysis of sample parts to support development of new repair Be part of an engineering team that investigates mechanical and electrical aircraft systems, mechanisms, and components in terms of function, failure modes, and operating conditions Determine appropriate material and performance specifications based on analyses and testing Draft and edit technical documents and work with Designated Engineering Representatives for approval of repair specifications using customer and FAA guidelines and regulations, including Repair Specifications, Technical Substantiation Reports and Customer Compliance Reports.
Assist in the training of technical personnel in the assembly and repair of new equipment and ensure required equipment is available Develop processes to ensure work is performed per FAA regulations and Repair Station Manual Provide reports as necessary Maintain electronic and hardcopy files according to operation manuals Create processes to improve efficiency and safe operations Other duties as assigned Experience and Skills Familiarity with industry specifications, processes, and materials Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and a valid NYS driver's license Proficient with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is a plus.
Able to effectively communicate verbally and with writing, excellent technical writing skills and attention to detail.
Punctual, reliable, and works well with team members Detail oriented and highly organized Machine shop, repairman, or other hands-on experience is preferred along with a working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Stations Experience with aircraft components and systems is strongly preferred Experience with Quantum Control or another ERP/inventory software is a plus Education Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical or a suitable aerospace associated discipline preferred) Compensation:
