Classroom teachers are accountable for direct supervision, nurturing, and guidance of children in the classroom and on the playground and in any areas that may be utilized.
Requirements:
Teachers must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of experience teaching children in a regulated facility.
Authority and reporting relationships:
Teachers are given authority to supervise and implement teaching within the classroom and other utilized spaces; all teachers report to the Pre-School Director.
Classroom teachers are considered co-teachers with equal duties and responsibilities in terms of supervising children, teaching, physical activities and cleaning duties.
It only takes a few minutes to clean up and put things back in their proper place, and it aids immensely when the next person who needs an item can locate it in its designated place.
Teacher will always be responsible for the appearance and postings of their classroom.
Teachers will be responsible for curriculum planning, the learning of the children and reporting to the Director.
Duties:
Ensure children are closely supervised at all times Positively and appropriately interact with children Plan and implement daily lessons and schedules under the supervision of the Director Keep physical environment attractive, varied, seasonal, bright, etc Maintain housekeeping for classroom cleanliness Wash tables after snacks, art projects, lunch, etc.
(Using the 4 step sanitizing process) Keep sinks, commodes and desk tables clean, every day and especially after Friday dismissal.
Center items must be disinfected before picked up and put away Teachers must keep daily attendance record Teachers will report needed supplies and classroom maintenance issues to the Director Evaluate each child three times per year (September, January, and May); this applies to the 2's and 3's class.
The Pre-K class will evaluated every 6 months.
Maintain positive relationship with parents, and provide feedback when necessary.
If a conference is necessary, the Director MUST be present during the conference.
If it is necessary to call the parent during preschool hours, the call must be made from the Director's office or allow the Director to make the call directly.
Never call a parent from a personal cell phone.
Complete 24 hours of on-going education each year through workshops, not including pre-training hours.
Aid children in preparing for Christmas and spring programs and other events, and attend those events.
Keep track of hours worked through our online time management system Ensure that First Aid and CPR cards are replaced every two years.
This is the teacher's responsibility, as compliance is required as part of licensing department regulations.
