Summary:
Under general supervision, the Library Aide - Processes position is responsible for assisting the Senior Librarian with collection maintenance tasks, as well as providing general public library service.
Every library staff member's first responsibility is to provide the highest level of front-line customer service by following these principles:
consistency, equitable treatment of all patrons, active listening, going one step more, doing the right thing.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Interacts with and builds relationships with library patrons by providing information, readers' advisory services and assistance in person, telephone, chat, and email.
Assists and instructs patrons in the use of the library catalog, room reservation system, internet, electronic digital resources, office equipment, mobile devices, and other technology.
Provides detailed information regarding library sponsored programs and class offerings.
Performs general library operation tasks including, but not limited to; item check out and check in, shelving and retrieving items and maintaining order in the shelves, maintaining a pleasant and orderly environment in the library, resolving library account issues and receiving payments for fees and services.
Promotes library services to patrons and attend outreach events, supports and assists in maintaining the library databases, and aids in collection development and maintenance through a variety of tasks such as weeding, shifting, and shelf-reading library materials.
Maintains confidentiality of library records.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must have strong people skills, a commitment to excellent customer service and interpersonal work relationships.
Ability to adapt to change, a positive attitude and a strong problem-solving ability.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends within the operational hours of the library.
Must have strong computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
Must demonstrate an eagerness and aptitude for acquiring skills in technical areas, as well as good internet searching skills, familiarity with mobile devices and apps and knowledge of social media.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent is required plus six (6) months of customer service experience is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Public Library experience preferred.
Experience with Koha integrated library systems and Office 365/Teams is also preferred.
Bilingual in a relevant language is preferred.
Any equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, lifting reaching are required.
Repetitive movement of wrist and fingers during computer data input is required.
Must be able to lift and carry 35 pounds on an occasional basis.
50 - 100% of day using computer.
Maintains static posture during sitting.
Works primarily indoors in a controlled environment.
Must be able to work at outside City events occasionally.
Pre-employment screening includes but is not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, Credit Check, Motor Vehicle Review and applicable Background Checks.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
